The information you provide as part of application will be used by the Fusion CDT for the purposes of processing your application and, if successful, for managing your student career. We may also use aggregated application information to monitor trends in the profile of applicants. Typically, data will be processed: -on the grounds of contractual requirement or to take steps to enter into a contract with you eg: to provide you with a University education; -because it is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest (for information on our public task see our function as set out in our charter); -because you have given us your consent or, in the case of special category data, your explicit consent. Your application and supporting docs will be shared with Fusion CDT partner universities Liverpool, Manchester, Oxford, Sheffield and Durham. The reason for sharing is because we have a joint recruitment process. Your application may also be shared with other external collaborators, if an external supervisor is involved in a project that you are being considered for. Please be aware that the diversity information that is collected as part of your application and enrolment will be passed to UKRI (UK Research and Innovation) as aggregated data. UKRI is gathering this as aggregated data of recruitment rounds/cohorts, not as individual data. Diversity data will not be used to report on individuals or specific universities. This data is being collected so that UKRI has a better understanding of the students its training provision attracts and supports. The data will be used to analyse general trends in student populations across UKRI. The legal basis for this data processing is set out in the General Data Protection Regulations, specifically Article 6 (e) and and, in relation to special category data processing, Article 9 (g). UKRI¿s privacy notice can be found online at https://www.ukri.org/who-we-are/privacy-notice/. University of York¿s student and student applicant privacy notices can be found at: https://www.york.ac.uk/records-management/dp/your-info/students/ https://www.york.ac.uk/records-management/dp/your-info/privacynotice-studentapplicants/ Please note that due to the nature of the CDT recruitment a decision on your application may take significantly longer than the standard advertised response time for PhD applications to University of York . After the initial application deadline supervisors will consider the applications and interviews will be arranged. There are usually multiple projects to fill and this can take some time. If you would like to request an update on the progress of your application at any point you are welcome to contact: fusion-cdt-admissions@york.ac.uk.
