Digital community Rest Less ranks York as one of the friendliest places to live in the UK 2024.

No matter our backgrounds, no matter our passions, we can each do good in the world. All it takes is opportunity - and at York, we're here to make opportunity possible.

We're a high-performing Russell Group university with a reputation for inspirational and life-changing research which feeds directly into our teaching. We're the proud home of over 20,000 students from more than 140 countries, each contributing to our inclusive community. Let's make a difference, together.

Our international community

With a vibrant community of over 3,000 international students, you’ll never be alone. At York:

International students Margaux, Natasha and Deborah explain how York became their home from home.

The campus feels almost like a park, with all the green spaces, lakes and wildlife. Living on campus is a great opportunity to make friends since there are many college activities throughout the year. I’ve also loved meeting new people in the Polish Society. Thanks to that, I have friends from my home country, so I feel more settled.
