Visas and immigration
If you're from outside the EU you may need to apply for a visa in order to become a full-time student in the UK.
Find out whether you will need a visa, how to apply and what documents you may need:
For general information see UK Visas and Immigration (gov.uk).
EU referendum advice: non-UK EU students will not need a visa to study in the UK. During the transition period the UK remains a member of the EU and remains bound by EU legislation. Non-UK EU students retain the right to remain under the current arrangements.
Tier 4 Visa Pilot
The University of York has been selected to take part in a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) pilot scheme for students starting their taught Masters degree in September 2018. The University of York were selected by the Home Office, as their visa refusal rates are consistently the lowest in the region. You will be granted an additional six months leave after your course end date. You will not have to submit educational and financial documents as part of your visa application.
