Right to study: Registration event

It is a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requirement that at the start of their programme, all students, including UK citizens, provide the University with evidence of their right to study in the UK. Once a student has uploaded these documents to e:Vision, they should attend a Registration event so that the University can verify the documentation.

If you are a Student Visa holder you should visit this webpage for further information about what you need to bring to the Registration event.

Not all UK students are asked to attend one of these events but students who are invited are selected at random.  Please do not be concerned that there is an issue with your right to study evidence if you have been selected to attend.

The next registration events will take place in the Student Hub between 10am - 4pm on the following dates:

  • Thursday 8 June

How do I make an appointment to attend the event?

There is no need to make an appointment. Please just attend the Student Hub during the dates and times listed above.

What do I need to bring with me to the event?

Please ensure that you have with you:

  • Your student card; and
  • the original document that you uploaded to e:Vision as evidence of your right to study in the UK.

Examples of right to study evidence include, but are not limited to:

  • Passport or birth certificate (UK students only)
  • EU Pre-settled or Settled Status (EU/EEA/Swiss students)
  • Dependent Visa, BNO Visa, Indefinite Leave to Remain (Overseas students)

If your evidence is in digital format, please bring with you a valid Share Code.

I haven’t been able to upload my evidence to e:Vision yet because I’ve not received my new passport, confirmation of my EU Settled Status, etc.

You will not be invited to attend a Registration event until you have uploaded your evidence to e:Vision. We know that some students are experiencing delays in receiving their evidence, so these students will be asked to attend a future Registration event.

I will be self-isolating/quarantining until after the events have finished. Should I still attend the event?

For the safety of both staff and students please do not attend the event. We will continue to keep this page updated with dates of future registration events. Please make sure you attend an event as soon as you are able to.

I won’t be arriving in York until after the event has finished. What do I need to do?

We will continue to keep this page updated with dates of future registration events. Please make sure you attend an event as soon as you are able to.
