Our partner accommodation provider, Abode is available to new undergraduates for the 2026/27 academic year and is located in the heart of York and only a 24-minute walk from campus.

Featuring modern facilities and excellent on-site amenities, Abode York offers comfortable living with access to shared social spaces, study areas, a meeting room, an on-site gym and games room. It’s a convenient place to live, socialise, exercise and study, all within your accommodation.

There’s also an outdoor courtyard with seating and landscaped gardens, providing space to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Cafés, bars, shops and entertainment are just a few minutes’ walk away in York city centre.

Although you’ll be living off campus, you’ll still be part of Vanbrugh College. You’ll have access to shared social spaces, college events and support on campus whenever you need it. There's also a university bus stop right outside, making it easy to get to and from campus.

Your contract will be with Home for Students – Abode York, not the University. All rent payments will be made directly to them. To secure your room, you will need to accept your room offer and pay a £250 deposit.

Please note that if you wish to pay your rent in instalments, you will need to provide a guarantor.

Abode, ensuite bathroom

This bedroom has a private bathroom, with a shower, toilet, and hand basin.

All ensuite rooms come with a ¾ bed with underneath storage and a mattress. You'll also have a dedicated desk/work station with a desk chair and plenty of storage.

In your shared kitchen / living space, you'll have access to a fridge freezer, microwave, oven and hob, hoover, ironing board, and a TV (you will need to buy your own TV license).

You'll have access to on-site amenities such as a common room, study spaces, laundry facilities, a games room, and an on-site gym.
