The University of York offers an annual number of places to undergraduate students at the Summer Schools below. Students in the final year of their degree programme are not eligible for these opportunities.

Basic tuition fees are waived under our reciprocal exchange agreements (additional courses/places may not be covered). You would need to budget for international flights, accommodation, medical expenses and living expenses.

Aarhus, Denmark

Aarhus University, Denmark

At AU Summer University you can study alongside students from Denmark and all over the world on a broad variety of courses taught in English within a range of fields including Arts, Media and Communication. The programme takes place through July and August, with individual courses generally lasting for three weeks. A diverse social programme is offered alongside the academic programme, so that you can get to know your fellow students while discovering more about Aarhus and the surrounding area. You must check the pre-requisites for your chosen course, and should apply for courses on the Summer University which are related to your studies at York. Number of places available to York students in 2023 TBC (to be confirmed).

Hong Kong

Chinese University of Hong Kong

The Chinese University of Hong Kong’s International Summer School (ISS) provides you with an exceptional opportunity to combine high-quality learning with an unforgettable summer experience. While attending, students can learn and live alongside other academic achievers from a range of cultures. International students can immerse themselves in a multicultural environment and gain insights into Asian cultures, experience a unique learning environment on the green, spacious campus of CUHK outside regular term time, and enjoy the many pleasures of summer in Hong Kong – Asia’s world city. Beijing, China

Peking University Summer School International

This programme at PKU aims to provide international students with an accessible and high-quality platform to understand China, drawing expertise from it's faculties to develop a portfolio of courses that include humanities, social sciences and interdisciplinary studies. In addition to providing excellent academic content there are a variety of extra curricular activities and cultural experiences together with PKU students. Chinese nationals cannot apply for this summer school in person. Although the tuition fee is waived, you will still need to pay a RMB400 (approx. £50) application fee. There are 4 places available to York students in 2023.

Renmin University of China

Renmin University of China will provide you with an amazing opportunity to meet students from all over the world and learn about all aspects of Chinese life and culture. You will study a wide variety of courses with elite teachers and students, as well as experiencing the sights and sounds of Beijing, one of the world's most dynamic cities. Excursions include visits to The Great Wall, The Forbidden City, the Lama Temple, the Temple of Heaven... among many others. This is a four week programme running throughout July. There are 6 places available to York students in 2023.

Seoul, South Korea

Seoul National University

SNU International Summer Program offers an exceptional opportunity for students to study at Korea's most prestigious university and one of the leading universities in the world. ISI offers an intensive five-week summer program led by distinguished international faculty. This programme is taught in English. This will include field trips and lectures. There will also be an opportunity for students to learn Korean and about Korean culture. Number of places available to York students in 2023 TBC (to be confirmed).

You will need to provide SNU a recent chest X-ray or PPD test to show you do not have tuberculosis to be accepted on the summer school.

Nanyang Technological University

The NTU GEM Trailblazer summer programme in July will welcome students to Singapore. With more than 30 courses to choose from across five areas of study, students will have an enriching summer study immersion and cultural adventure. Number of places available to York students in 2023 TBC (to be confirmed).
