Discover more about independent travel opportunities from representatives of international volunteering organisations.

Summer Opportunities Information Session, 11am - 12pm, in CLA/057

Come along to our Summer Opportunities Information Session to find out how to apply to study, work or volunteer abroad during the summer vacation.  

Workshops for students due to go abroad in summer 2027 or the academic year 2027/28.

Topics will include:

• responsibilities
• applications to host universities
• the Mobility Online system
• visas and accommodation
• travel insurance 
• travel safety and wellbeing

Get ready to explore funding opportunities, prepare your finances, complete your Academic Recognition/Grade Conversion Checklist and Learning Agreement, and arrange your visa, passport and other travel necessities. Chat to Global Opportunities, Disability Services and Student Finance staff, as well as visiting students from our partner universities and other students heading to the same region.

Summer Abroad Pre-departure Workshop - 2pm to 4pm, location TBC

Get prepared for your summer abroad. Learn about your key contacts, your Mobility Online account, applying to your host institution, and essential paperwork and deadlines. There'll be a chance to connect with other students preparing for a summer abroad and chat with Global Opportunities staff.

Year Abroad Pre-departure Workshop, 2:00pm to 4:00pm, location TBC

Wondering how to stay safe abroad? Let the University's Health and Safety and Insurance Teams walk you through the Travel Authorisation Process, including risk assessment, insurance and health and safety tips. We'll also provide further opportunities to chat with Global Opportunities staff and other students heading to the same region.

Year Abroad Pre-departure Workshop, 2:00pm to 4:00pm, location TBC

This is the final workshop where you can chat with Global Opportunities staff and connect with other students heading to the same region. Build your resilience ahead of your travels with the University’s Open Door Team. Find out from Global Opportunities what tasks you need to complete on arrival at your destination, during your time abroad and once your placement has finished.
