Alternative offers for MOOCs

For some subject areas, completing a free massive open online course (MOOC) may make you eligible for an alternative offer to study.

If you successfully complete the relevant MOOC, as outlined in your offer letter, you may be eligible for a reduction of up to one A level grade (or equivalent) below the typical offer.

You'll still need to meet the essential subject requirements of your offer, as well as any English language requirements.

We'll make our assessment at the point of application. If an alternative MOOC offer hasn't been made, it means you're not eligible for a reduction.

This is the case for some non-standard qualifications and foundation programmes. If we have concerns about your ability to undertake the programme, we reserve the right to only make the typical offer.

Please note: you do not need to pay for the certificate. Details about how to evidence completion of a MOOC will be sent in your offer letter. Depending on your course, this could be via a screenshot of your completion screen or by completing a short departmental-specific form.

Please don't send evidence of MOOC completion until you have received an offer from us.
