Module summary

This module is the final achievement of the Masters programme. It consists in conducting a piece of independent research under supervision.

Module learning outcomes

By the end of the module, you will be able to:

  • Carry out independent research with confidence

  • Apply current theoretical and research-based knowledge in one area of linguistics

  • Acquire and apply additional methodologies and techniques in adjacent areas if necessary

  • Be aware of and articulate any ethical issues in working with linguistic data

  • Engage confidently in written academic communication

Module content

This module will be taught over the second semester and the summer vacation.

During the spring, students will formulate a proposal, and they will be assigned a supervisory panel that will help them to sharpen the proposal.

Over the course of the summer vacation student will write their dissertation.
