You will be notified by email when you can collect your University Card.

Download the MyUoY app
For useful information and everything in one place, download the MyUoY app.
IT and getting connected
Connect to the eduroam network
You should connect to the eduroam network rather than using ‘UoY setup’ or the guest network. For a step-by-step guide to connecting to the correct network, see our campus wifi (eduroam) support page.
Keep your password safe
Never share your University password with anyone, not even us. Read what to do if you accidentally share your personal information.
Money matters
Student finance payments
Payments have usually been released by now. If you haven’t yet received funds, see our student finance problems information and complete the Student Advice online referral form.
Set up payment for your tuition fees and campus accommodation (if relevant)
The easiest way to pay tuition fees and, if relevant, for university accommodation is by direct debit. Submit your completed direct debit mandate form by Tuesday 6 October 2026. Your first payment is due on or around Saturday 31 October 2026.
Get an official confirmation letter (if needed)
You can request an official letter confirming that you are a current student via e:vision. You may need this to prove Council Tax exemption or to open a UK bank account.
Living on campus
Note your campus address
You can find your address on campus via the accommodation portal.
Complete your room inventory
Within 24 hours of moving into your campus accommodation, we’ll send a link to an online inventory form to your University email address. Submit your completed inventory within 48 hours of receiving the link.
Report a fault
Find out how to report a problem with your accommodation.
If you get locked out
If you accidentally lock yourself out of your accommodation between 7am and 11pm, head to your nearest Campus Reception at the Information Centre or Ron Cooke Hub.
If you’re locked out between 11pm and 7am, contact Campus Safety. Store their number in your phone +44 (0)1904 32 4444 or contact them via the SafeZone app.
You should also note your nearest Safe Haven in case you’re locked out without your phone. The Safe Haven button is usually near a college hub and connects you directly to Campus Safety.
Collecting parcels
All packet and parcel items are delivered to either the Piazza Mailroom (Campus East) or Dalham Farm Student Mailroom (Campus West).
Please wait until you receive an email from the University containing a QR code before coming to the mailroom.
Find out about student mail.

Studying at York
Introduction to semesters
The academic year is made up of two semesters, plus a summer semester for postgraduate taught students. There is one week for induction, 11 weeks of teaching and four weeks for revision and assessment. See our semesters guide.
Attendance expectations
Unless specified, you are expected to be on campus for the 11 Teaching and Learning Weeks each semester and also whilst you are undertaking assessments. You may also need to 'check-in' to your teaching sessions.
Health
Register with a doctor
We recommend that most students register with a doctor as soon as possible after arriving in York. See our student healthcare information for details, including advice for students who we recommend do not change their doctor.
Registering sick leave
If you're ill during semester time, you should let us know via our self-certification of illness (sick leave) process on e:vision.
You can self-certify for a maximum of ten days in any one academic year, with a maximum of seven days for any one period of illness.
Know the symptoms of infectious illnesses such as meningitis
In a close-knit community like a university, we must all be vigilant to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. It’s important to know symptoms, how to treat them, and when to act quickly.
