You can enrol on the majority of the staff courses listed below by accessing the University's Learning Management System (LMS) (you will need your York username and password to sign in).

Aimed at those with no or very little supervisory experience and those who are looking to enhance their supervisory practice, made up of six consecutive sessions. Staff are welcome to attend as many or as few of these sessions as they would like.

If you're a Research Supervisor, then we offer specific support for you. Our Being an Effective Research Supervisor Tutorial or BEST is an online tutorial which covers six areas of supervisory practice - each complementing our six Postgraduate Supervisor Training Sessions.
We're also proud to be part of the UKCGE Research Supervision Recognition Programme - a scheme piloted in 2019, where three University of York Supervisors were recognised for their excellent supervision.
Our annual Research Staff Conferences are open to all research staff, postdocs, interested academics and final year PhD students. These events celebrate the excellent research taking place at York and to give you an opportunity to consider your career options. Our 2020 conference details are TBC.
In 2019 we held two Research Staff Conferences, one for the Sciences, and another for the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
