Postgraduate Supervisor (Bitesize) Briefings are aimed at those with no or very little supervisory experience, and those who are looking to enhance their supervisory practice. Staff are welcome to attend as many or as few of these sessions as they would like.
Join us online every other Thursday at 4PM for a cuppa & a chat!
We’ve created a space for all researchers (post-docs, ECRs, research staff) to stay connected with each other while working remotely. During the session you’ll be randomly allocated to a break-out room with another 3-4 people and each week we'll shuffle the groups so there's a chance to 'meet' different colleagues. Sessions are scheduled for ~30 minutes every two weeks, but feel free to drop in for as long as you like and join us when you can. You only need to register once in order to attend any of the sessions.

We offer specific support for Research Supervisors. Our Being an Effective Research Supervisor Tutorial or BEST is an online tutorial which covers six areas of supervisory practice - each complementing our six Postgraduate Supervisor Training Sessions.
We're also proud to be part of the UKCGE Research Supervision Recognition Programme - a scheme piloted in 2019, where three University of York Supervisors were recognised for their excellent supervision.
Our annual Research Staff Conferences are open to all research staff, postdocs, interested academics and final year PhD students. These events celebrate the excellent research taking place at York and to give you an opportunity to consider your career options.
In 2020 our conference focused on Shaping a Positive Culture for Researchers at York and the Researcher Development Concordat
Are you a postdoc or early career researcher who is interested in producing a draft Fellowship application?
We run a Preparing for Fellowship Success workshop to support Fellowship applicants. Details of our 2020 event can be found here.
