Celebrating Spaces: Connecting Researchers

Celebrating Spaces: Connecting Researchers is an internal open day which brings together the research community at York.

We want to showcase, explore, and enjoy the wide range of research carried out at our institution, the people who make it happen, and the unique spaces that facilitate that research.

This year's Celebrating Spaces: Connecting Researchers will take place on 25 June 2026.

Get involved for 2026

All members of staff who support or participate in research can be involved and share their research stories and spaces, allowing them to engage with research that they otherwise wouldn’t in their day-to-day roles.

All departments and institutes are invited to participate in the activities, talks, equipment demonstrations, and unique research and support spaces that can be showcased during the event.

Lightning talks

In these talks, researchers, technicians, and research staff showcase the breadth of research at York. Each one covers the speaker's individual research and/or work, either on specific projects, their overall research topic, or their day-to-day activities supporting research.

These talks take place in the morning session from 9.30am-12pm (noon). Speakers will also receive half a day's training to help them prepare for their talk on 8 May.
