Research governance

Research governance refers to:

  • the structures in place for decision-making and accountability in relation to the direction and management of research at the University; and
  • the framework of policies, procedures and codes of practice which apply to research.

Decision-making and accountability

The University’s research activity is overseen by the University Research Committee (URC), reporting to the University Senate which oversees all academic matters. URC advises the Senate and the University Executive Board, on strategy, approves internal policy, and monitors the research performance of the institution.
