Be a Postgraduate Student Ambassador

We are looking to recruit new Postgraduate Student Ambassadors to join our existing team. Our Postgraduate Student Ambassadors assist at a variety of events, both on campus, online and at external fairs. Their role is to give a fair and accurate representation of the University from a student perspective; this insight is highly valued by prospective students.

The role is a flexible, paid, part-time position, which can easily fit around your study. All we ask is that you commit to work 10 hours in an academic year.

Ambassador activities

  • Open Days - both on campus and online
  • Student panels and talks
  • Campus tours for prospective students and parents/guardians
  • Student life-online chats
  • Student led peer to peer sessions
  • Blog and digital content
  • External study fairs and Careers events

Role requirements

  • You will need to commit to at least 10 hours of work over the academic year
  • You should be familiar with widening participation issues
  • You should be proactive, enthusiastic and reliable
  • You should have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to respond to sometimes challenging situation.

Compulsory training is provided.

Right to work

  • You will need to provide proof of your right to work in the UK. Your department will tell you how to arrange this.

Skills this role develops

Being a Student Ambassador helps you develop the following skills:

  • Communication - talking to a range of people on a one-to-one basis or to large groups
  • Team work - co-ordinating your work with other Ambassadors and University staff
  • Social and cultural awareness - meeting and working with people from a range of backgrounds
  • Problem solving / using your initiative - you may face unexpected challenges, which require you to change your approach. These incidents may also require resilience, persistence, tact, creativity and innovation.

Rates of pay

  • £11.73 ph (plus holiday pay) = £13.15ph
