Module aims

To assess advanced skills of independent research.

Module learning outcomes

The student will have successfully completed a major piece of independent research, organised around a clear and well formulated research question. He or she will have located his or her arguments in the context of wider scholarly debates and will have advanced the state of the discipline in the answer to the question given, developing lines of argument which are original to the dissertation.

In their oral defence, students will be able to successfully and convincingly defend the conclusions they have reached during their independent research.

Module feedback

Formative feedback (oral) given as part of dissertation workshop and regular meetings with dissertation supervisor during summer term.

Summative written feedback within 15 weeks of submission (this is determined by our partnership agreement with the Mundus MAPP consortium)
