Module aims
The module has been designed to give students the capability to develop a proposal for an academically grounded project that can address a range of potential drivers for research. These include: a relevant academic issue emerging from the literature; an organisational or work-based topic; and/or an issue of contemporary socio-economic importance germane to the degree being undertaken.
Module learning outcomes
On successful completion of the module, you will be able to:
MO1: Plan an individual research project
MO2: Apply knowledge of research philosophy and methods to justify an appropriate approach for a specific research question.
MO3:Critically analyse significant bodies of literature in the chosen topic area to justify an area of research
MO4: Develop a research plan for a researchable problem
MO5: Reflect on your own strengths, weaknesses, preferences and previous experience and consider how this might inform the type of study you might wish to undertake
MO6: Identify ethical issues associated with a specific piece of research and attain ethical approval for the project.
