Module aims

To introduce the student to the role of the midwife in the provision of midwifery and maternity care.

To facilitate the student's transition to professional practice.

To familiarise the student to models of midwifery care.

To introduce the student to the process of identifying their learning needs in relation to clinical midwifery practice.

Module learning outcomes

This module will enable the student to:

  1. Identify, review and achieve personal and professional learning needs, with support from their Practice Assessor and Academic Assessor.
  2. Achieve Stage 1 performance and skills outcomes (competencies).
