A new home for the University of York Management School and the Department of Social Policy and Social Work.
Formerly the Smith and Nephew building, Church Lane building sits at the edge of Campus West. Reinvisioned as a modern facility for the University of York Management School and Department of Social Policy and Social Work, it's placed in the perfect location to link the East and West parts of campus together.
Designed as a new home for the growing Management School and combined with Social Policy and Social Work (SPSW), the project provided an ideal opportunity to bring two disciplines together, to explore and work alongside each other in close partnership.
Work started on site in the Autumn of 2019, with the building opening to students for the 2021/22 academic year.
The modern, light filled building features bespoke teaching and learning spaces, including:
- a lecture theatre
- multiple classrooms
- numerous break out and social spaces for more informal work
- shared and individual offices
- dedicated space for PhD students.
Church Lane building is also home to a café providing a mix of indoor and outdoor seating - for students and staff to enjoy some well-deserved down time.
With additional permit parking spaces on site, there are also a number of Electric Vehicle charging points and bike storage too.
