Adult learning
The Centre for Lifelong Learning (CLL) offers a range of part-time, open access learning opportunities to the local community, as well as a number of distance learning courses. Additional classes for adult learners are also offered by Languages for All (LFA).
The University of York runs a number of residential schools in spring and summer. These residentials are designed to provide participants with an insight into life as a university student, while also learning about what higher education entails.
Green Apples is an aspiration-raising project for young students that has been running since 1998. Hundreds of pupils at 20 local York schools attend the programme which helps to demystify higher education and discuss careers.
Our Department of Chemistry has a dedicated Schools Liaison and Outreach programme which offers a range of talks and hands-on activities suitable for students of all ages. In addition, they also offer science continuing professional development to primary teachers, as well as a wide range of teaching resources.
Sport and recreation

Open to both students and non-students, the Students' Union has over 50 sport clubs.- Cycling on campus
Estates Services and the City of York Council provide information on cycling events, security, and resources.
Public lectures
Public lectures are offered every term on a wide variety of topics. Led by departments who have a particular area of expertise they wish to showcase, these are offered to the general public.
