With a focus on operations, logistics and supply-chain management, this programme equips students with the skills required to navigate the complexities of the global business landscape.
Through a research-led curriculum, students on this programme will gain a holistic skill set that encompasses operations and supply chain management, logistics, supply-chain analytics, risk management, sustainability practices and strategic decision-making.
Whether you aspire to work in manufacturing, services or consultancy, and in the public, private or third sector, the MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme will provide you with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to excel in this vital and rapidly evolving field.
Course content
Your taught modules will blend subject-specific skills of operations management, logistics, supply-chain management, sustainability, business analytics and international business in a global context, alongside theoretical evaluation of contemporary issues in management.
You'll also develop your independent research skills before focusing your efforts on a final dissertation project. This intensive project will be independently led (academic research focus) or conducted in collaboration with a selected industry partner (applied focus).
Our distinguished faculty includes authors of world-leading textbooks, such as "Operations Management" (10th edition) by Nigel Slack, Alistair Brandon-Jones, and Nicola Burgess (2022), and "Sustainable Operations and Supply Chain Management" by Melanie Kreye (2023).
Our faculty members have conducted extensive research aligned with 'grand societal challenges' and UN Sustainable Development Goals, addressing issues from 'ending hunger' to developing 'responsible resource consumption practices'. Modules
In Semester 1, students complete three core modules. In Semester 2, students complete two core modules plus one optional module. Examples can be found below. Some option module combinations may not be possible. The options available to you will be confirmed after you begin your course.
In the summer semester, students can choose an applied research dissertation or an academic dissertation.

- Demonstrate an understanding of global issues affecting operations, logistics and supply-chain management in relation to resilient, sustainable, ethical and socially responsible practice.
- Critically apply theories, conceptual frameworks, and tools to describe and evaluate contemporary issues related to operations, logistics and supply-chain management linked to organisational performance.
- Apply analytical approaches to evaluate operations, logistics and supply-chain management practices and propose recommendations for future research and practice.
- Communicate complex information and well-evidenced arguments effectively and persuasively through different perspectives in operations, logistics and supply-chain management to a range of audiences to inform decision-making.
- Design, deliver and present a significant work-based project in operations, logistics and supply-chain management that delivers rigorous analysis and innovative solutions to real world issues.
The School is extremely international in its outlook. Academic staff are experts in their fields, and come from all over the world. Our professors make topics immediately relevant by using current business cases from different areas, and though my course took strategic management as its focus, it always referred to the broader aspects of international business and the global environment.

Teaching format
We use a wide range of teaching methods to suit different learning styles, including:

You'll also put your skills of analysis, decision-making and creative thinking to the test in business-simulation games, working in teams to accomplish your goals.
We'll help you develop skills of research and investigation to support your independent learning.
Teaching location
You will be based in the School for Business and Society on Campus West. Most of your teaching will take place in the Church Lane Building, with additional contact hours elsewhere on Campus East and Campus West.
About our campus
Our beautiful green campus offers a student-friendly setting in which to live and study, within easy reach of the action in the city centre. It's easy to get around campus - everything is within walking or pedalling distance, or you can always use the fast and frequent bus service.
Assessment and feedback
Your modules are assessed with a mixture of essays and presentations. You'll also complete formative assignments, including presentations and literature reviews. You'll receive feedback on all the work you submit, helping you to understand your strengths and identify areas for improvement.
Your final assessment is an 8,000-word (Applied) or 10,000-word (Academic) dissertation, which makes up a third of your overall grade.
