Module aims

It aims to introduce you to key theories of strategy formulation and implementation in public, private, and third-sector organisations. Emphases will include the growing importance of ethical leadership and sustainability. In addition, you will learn to apply theories of strategic management in practice through reflection, simulation exercise and analysis of case studies.

Module learning outcomes

On successful completion of the module, you will be able to:

MO1: demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the main theoretical approaches to contemporary strategic management covered in the module

MO2: Analyse the strategic options available to organisations and evaluate their practical application

MO3: Consider and evaluate how sustainability and ethics are positioned within strategic management practices

MO4: Critically reflect on the learning from the module and how you can apply theory to practice, now and in the future
