Module summary
This short non-accredited course is an introductory course designed for students with no prior knowledge of Arabic who wish to familiarise themselves with the Arabic language and basic cultural norms in the Arabic-speaking world. Its main aim is to introduce the language and make the students familiarize themselves with it, and understand its main features and characteristics.

Module aims
This course introduces students with no prior knowledge of Arabic to this language and culture-specific aspects in the Arabic-speaking world. Students will familiarise with basic features of the Arabic language and its writing system and will learn basic phrases to communicate in everyday social exchanges in a way that is both linguistically and culturally appropriate.
Students will engage in guided individual, pair and group activities and will have access to weekly resources available in the virtual learning platform.
Module learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

Understand the basics of the Arabic writing system, laying a foundation for further study;communicate in essential contexts, such as greetings, self-introductions, and exchanging information about family, friends, and personal interests;
