Module aims

  • To introduce the student to the care of women and babies with complex maternity care needs.
  • To develop students' communication and technical skills in this arena enabling them to gain confidence in the care of complicated maternities, functioning as member of the multi-professional team.

Module learning outcomes

This module will enable the student to:

  • Identify and review personal learning needs and opportunities that facilitate their development with minimal support from their practice assessor/ practice supervisor.
  • Demonstrate competence in relation to all 29 midwifery competencies (Stage Two).
