If you have booked University accommodation, you will be able to access your room from Saturday 9 January 2021.
See new postgraduates for quarantine information and exemptions for Theatre, Film, Television and Interactive Media (TFTI) students.
Getting to York
If you're using a satnav, the Campus West postcode is YO10 5DD and Campus East is YO10 5GY. College directions will be clearly signposted on your approach.
There are buses from York railway station approximately every five minutes during the day and it takes around 20 minutes to reach campus.
Pick up your keys
If you’re in University accommodation, remember to bring your offer letter or email and some form of photo identification – for example: your passport, driving licence card or national identity card.
Collect your Uni Card
Your University Card is your ID, printing, library and room access card. If you're living off-campus and haven't chosen a college you can pick this up from the Information Centre. If you're living on campus or have chosen a college to join, you can pick it up from your college reception.
Part-time students receive their Uni card in the post and HYMS and Health Science students receive their card from their department.
Getting settled in
If you're living on campus, we’ll email you a room inventory when you move in. Check your room thoroughly and if you have a problem, report it online.
If you’re living in a flat with shared kitchen/bathroom facilities, you and your flatmates will be treated as a single household (or ‘Support Bubble’) so you’ll be able to spend time together without the need to socially distance. This also applies to off-campus housing.
Once you've unpacked, why not explore the campus or join a campus tour?
Food and drink
Get to know campus by visiting one of our catering outlets. Supermarkets and restaurants on campus will be open with strict cleaning schedules and options for takeaway, delivery or pre-ordering for collection. To find your nearest outlet, see campus food and bars.
Get online on campus
There will be instructions on how to get online in your study bedroom. If you have any problems, see IT information for new users. IT services will also be running helpdesk sessions to help you sort things out.
Visit your college stall
Some colleges have a stall where you can buy college t-shirts and other merchandise. There’s no pressure to buy but it could help you to feel part of your college from day one.
See arrival information for new international students for help with tasks you need to do when arriving in York, such as registering your attendance and collecting your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP).
Photography will take place during arrivals days, which may be used for marketing purposes by the University of York. If you have any concerns or would prefer not to feature, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. For further information about how we use photography or video which includes you please see our privacy notice.
