Our researchers investigate a number of areas in this dynamic field.
Our researchers aim to understand how people can hold words and images in memory for seconds and minutes, and why. Ongoing research addresses how language and perceptual input can be structured in the mind to help us make sense of the world, how we can control and manipulate our semantic knowledge, and how we can navigate our environment effectively.
The research utilises state-of-the-art neuroimaging, sleep and physiological monitoring in our bespoke sleep lab, eye-tracking, plus an array of behavioural and genetic methods. We study the full life-span from infancy to later life, and cover many atypical conditions and disorders.
We often forget over days, weeks and years. We also want to know more about the role of sleep in memory retention, language learning and regulation of emotions.
