Space Planning is responsible for the provision of centrally managed spaces across campus, including teaching rooms.

What we manage

Here's a list of all of the spaces across campus that Space Planning manages and can assist with.

Centrally managed spaces are:

  • Bookable on Planon with no departmental restrictions
  • Subject to regular condition surveys carried out by Space Planning
  • Monitored for planned and actual usage

Space Planning will:

  • Maintain the list of spaces and ensure University Systems are accurate and up to date
  • Manage the list of agreed layouts and room description terms
  • Provide and replace furniture - ensuring all furniture is fit for purpose
  • Specify opening hours and any restrictions where required
  • Maintain room signage
  • Work with the Audio Visual team to ensure appropriate Audio Visual equipment is in place

Spaces updates:

  • Improvements, changes and design of new teaching spaces is facilitated by the Learning Spaces Improvement plan and is funding by the Learning Space Capital Programme
  • Future changes and additions to teaching space are in response to University Timetabling needs
  • Room style and layout is guided by the Timetabling and Room Booking teams and other stakeholder requirements
  • Approved changes will be made to improve accessibility and in response to any health and safety concerns
