Tailor a programme of study to meet your own personal and professional ambitions in health sciences.
Year of entry: 2026 (September)
This course is designed to give you the space, support and expertise to specialise in the area of health and social care that matters most to you.
You will have the opportunity to shape your own pathway by choosing a theme or topic that aligns with your professional interests and future ambitions, while being guided by an experienced academic team.
What sets this course apart is the way it brings theory and research into dialogue with real-world practice. You won’t just study health and social care in the abstract, you will learn how to apply evidence to complex, unpredictable situations, becoming a reflective practitioner who can adapt, innovate, and lead with confidence.
Graduates of this course are equipped to influence practice and drive change, whether at the level of individual care, team dynamics, or whole-system transformation. You will leave with the ability to identify challenges, design solutions, and contribute meaningfully to improving services and outcomes.
Throughout the course, you will build the intellectual and professional foundations to take your career further. You’ll learn how to face difficult situations with creativity, compassion and integrity, while honing skills in research, education, and leadership. Whether you’re working one-to-one with service users, leading a team, or collaborating across professional boundaries, you will graduate prepared to make a difference in diverse health and social care contexts, and to keep pushing that difference forward.
This course only offers optional modules. You'll study a variety of modules that amount to 120 credits. Examples can be found below. Some option module combinations may not be possible. The options available to you will be confirmed after you begin your course.
Our modules may change to reflect the latest academic thinking and expertise of our staff, and in line with Department/School academic planning.
In the summer semester, you will focus on an independent research project. You will be matched with a supervisor with complementary research interests, and together you will design an appropriate project, using the skills and techniques you have been taught in the modules.
