The Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA) funds high-risk, high-reward 'moonshots' that traditional research councils often bypass. This course, aimed at researchers across ALL disciplines, will provide a tailored roadmap to navigate ARIA's distinctive funding landscape.

This interactive session breaks down ARIA's fast-paced, Programme Director-driven culture. You will learn how to decipher call requirements, speak their disruptive terminology, alignment-check proposal vibes, and manage high-commitment PI expectations (often 40–60% FTE) alongside rapid turnaround deadlines. University of York awardees will share candid ‘insider knowledge’ on writing winning pitches, navigating agile contract variations, and adapting to post-award shifts.

The workshop features a collaborative project lab to help you forge new, interdisciplinary cross-departmental connections. Together, you will brainstorm novel, radical ideas that push beyond traditional funding boundaries and develop actionable preliminary concepts for upcoming ARIA opportunities.
