Alternative offers 2019/20 entry
Unconditional offer scheme
If you apply to York and demonstrate excellent academic performance, and your application is supported by your school or college, we may be able to consider making you an unconditional offer in certain subject areas. An unconditional offer assures you that you have a place at York if you make us your firm choice.
The unconditional offer scheme allows us to recognise and demonstrate our commitment to talented students by alleviating the pressure and enabling your concentration to continue to achieving academically.
We are confident that if you receive an unconditional offer, you will continue to work hard and get the best grades you can. It is important that you continue to achieve in your studies to gain a strong academic profile, not only in preparation for success at university, but also in your future career and beyond.
This scheme will not be available for 2020/21 entry and beyond.
Extended Project Qualifications (EPQ)
We recognise the benefits of the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and its role in preparing students for success in higher education. In acknowledgement of this, some of our departments will make a reduced offer where the EPQ is taken alongside three A levels or equivalent.
See course-specific entry requirements for more information.
The EPQ can also contribute to the requirements of the Realising Opportunities scheme aimed at helping students from underrepresented groups.
