Our programmes and activities are designed to give talented sixth form students a taste of university life while encouraging them to apply to a research-intensive university like York. We also provide advice and guidance on practical matters such as student finance and UCAS applications
Many of our programmes are partnerships with specific schools/colleges. However, some activities are open for individual student applications.
During 2022 our Access and Outreach programmes will be delivered virtually with some face-to-face events. We will be guided by government guidelines and University policy. We will work directly with programme participants and our school and college partners to keep you informed of progress.

Support and resources
As well as our programme of interactive activities we also offer the following support:
- Resources for 6th form students: we provide a variety of study resources for pupils who are working on assignments for Realising Opportunities or Next Step York, or an Extended Project Qualification.
- York Access Scheme: the scheme aims to improve access to the University for applicants who have faced challenging circumstances. It allows students to provide additional information which will be considered alongside their UCAS application.
- Support for care leavers: students who have been in care can get in touch with our care leavers' contact both before they apply and during their studies at York. We also offer a Care Leavers and Foyer Bursary to help cover the costs of tuition fees and living expenses.
Our annual conference gives you the chance to engage with knowledgeable practitioners.
