Supporting Opportunity, Advancing Research
Our spirit of shared purpose is the defining hallmark at York.
Our commitment to inclusion, fairness and equality for all is what unites and drives us forward.
Today this commitment is captured in the simple phrase: we are a University for the Public Good. Together, we are creating a university where opportunity and innovation are not just ideals but realities for all.
Together we will make York the university of opportunity in the UK and advance innovative research for public good.

Research is fundamental to improving society, enabling economic growth in the right areas and changing people’s lives for the better.
In a world facing a climate transition, a migration crisis, global political turmoil and rapidly increasing inequality, the right kind of research is needed now more than ever.
