Our Impact
Giving to York can change lives. Whether that’s funding the next research breakthrough, or helping students who have experienced multiple barriers getting to university find their place at York.
Take a look at some of the stories below and read about how your donations are making an impact on students, researchers, and our community.
Why I give to the York Sanctuary Fund
30 years ago, Jerry Lockspeiser was an Alcuin College resident and social sciences student at York. Many years later, after a successful career in the wine industry, he now gives to York Sanctuary Fund: our fund to support students and academics fleeing conflict. Looking back on his time at York as a ‘golden age’, he explains why he wants students to be able to enjoy York as much as he did.
Philanthropy is like a catalyst: it's sowing a seed that then grows into something much bigger because of the help we, and York, have enabled
