Do I need to pay tuition fees?

If you are nominated to the University of York by your home university on a valid student exchange agreement then you will not need to pay tuition fees to the University of York. To check whether you can apply as a visiting exchange student, contact your home university.

If you're applying to York as an independent visiting student (not on a student exchange agreement) you'll pay tuition fees directly to the University of York. Your tuition fees will cover the costs of tuition, supervision, exams and an academic transcript. The minimum fee payable is equivalent to the fees for one term.

Erasmus+ traineeships are for work experience only.  Students from our existing exchange partners are eligible to study as non-fee paying visiting students. Students who wish to study at the University of York outside of an existing exchange agreement must apply as fee-paying visiting students.

The following tuition fee rates are for full-time study:

Additional courses

If you take any courses, such as English language courses through the Centre for English Language Teaching or foreign language courses through Languages For All, then additional fees will be charged.

Special arrangements apply for some schemes where students pay fees direct to their home university, or who come to York through certain third party providers. Contact the Centre for Global Programmes if you are unsure if this applies to you.
