Norwegian Study Centre

Welcome to the Norwegian Study Centre (NSC), York

Well known and loved by generations of Norwegian students, the NSC is both a part of the University of York and an extension of the Norwegian higher education system, established and core funded by the Norwegian government. Since the early 1980s, it has offered students, teachers and others not only high-quality teaching, but also an opportunity to immerse themselves in the language(s) and culture(s) of Britain.

Please explore our webpages to learn more about what we have to offer: primarily 1-2 week short courses arranged by your Norwegian institution, and for-credit studies over one or two semesters at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. If you have questions or would like to know more about us, just contact us: hopefully, we can help you.

See you in York soon!

Kjetil Myskja

Director of the NSC

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: The United Kingdom is far more open than it has been for some time, but some hurdles still exist. As long as there are no major changes in government rules and guidelines, the NSC will for the academic year 21/22 leave the choice between online or in-York short courses up to the institutions in Norway. The NSC YorkCourse will run in-York only this year. Please see the University's COVID-19 page for updated information.

Calling all students registered on English or Linguistics Masters programmes in Norway: consider applying through the NSC to spend the Spring Term 2022 studying part of your masters with the Department of English and Related Literature or the Department of Language and Linguistic Science, here at the University of York.  Note that we also offer semester length MA-level modules at the NSC.  Applications for both open in autumn.
