What is Enterprise?

Enterprise is all about making things happen. Whether it's a brand new product or building a 'not-for-profit', if you have an idea, why not explore it further?

Here at the University of York we have lots of support available, from advice for beginners to year long programmes dedicated to helping make your business plans a reality. Don't just take it from us, take a look for yourself at what other students have achieved.

Success Stories

Bethany Watrous: Digital Heritage Consultancy 2019

Bethany graduated from the University of York in 2018 with a Masters in the Archeology of Buildings. She is currently working on creating her own digital heritage consultancy firm called experience-heritage.com. Bethany's business specialises in delivering interactive heritage models and apps to museums and heritage groups.

Bethany is currently on a Start-Up Visa which means she is remaining in the UK after her graduation to develop her business with endorsement from the university. She is also using the brand new Phase One enterprise space on Campus East.

Bethany chose to start her business in York because of the city's rich history and how it inspires her work. Her advice for any other students considering developing their own business is to simply "go for it" and create something you're passionate about.

In 2020 she participated in the Santander Emerging Entrepreneaurs programme and reached the final stage. She's looking to remain in York and grow her business for many years to come.
