Getting to York
If you're using a satnav, the Campus West postcode is YO10 5DD and Campus East is YO10 5GY. College directions will be clearly signposted on your approach.
There are buses from York railway station approximately every five minutes during the day and it takes around 20 minutes to reach campus.
Register your arrival
To release your student finance (if you've applied) it’s a good idea to register as soon as you arrive. If you’re in University accommodation this will happen automatically when you collect your keys. If not, you need to visit Student Hub in Market Square as soon as you can and they will register you.
Pick up your keys from your college
If you’re in University accommodation, remember to bring copies of your offer letter, student finance information and some form of photo identification – for example, passport, driving licence card or national identity card.
Collect your Uni Card
Your University Card is your ID, printing, library and room access card. Pick it up from your college reception on Arrivals Weekend or the Information Centre helpdesk in Market Square during the following week. Part-time students will receive their Uni card in the post and HYMS and Health Science students will receive their card from their department.
Unload your things
Second and Third Year Contacts (STYCs) will be on hand to help you into campus accommodation. Give your flat mates a helping hand too and start making friends.
"STYCs will be there to greet you when you arrive on move-in day and help you carry all your belongings to your new room. They'll be around all week to help you with any problems as well as taking you to any welcome talks and showing you around a bit so you get used to campus.
STYCs will also be the ones taking you to all the Freshers' Week events, whether that's to town for your first night of fun in York or a 'grub crawl' around the best restaurants.
Most importantly, your STYCs will give you the best tips and tricks for making the most out of your time at the University of York."

Food and drink
Visit one of our catering outlets on campus and treat your driver before they set off back home. To find your nearest outlet, see campus food and bars.
Get online on campus
There will be instructions on how to get online in your study bedroom. If you have any problems, see IT information for new users. IT services will also be running helpdesk sessions to help you sort things out.
Visit your college stall
Some colleges have a stall where you can buy college t-shirts and other merchandise. There’s no pressure to buy but it could help you to feel part of your college from day one.
Don't forget to register to vote in York - the University cannot do this for you.
You are entitled to register at both your home address and your university address. You can vote at both addresses in local elections but you can only vote once in national elections.
