Getting to York

Pick up your keys

If you’re in University accommodation, remember to bring copies of your offer letter, student finance information and some form of photo identification – for example, passport, driving licence card or national identity card.

Collect your Uni Card

Your University Card is your ID, printing, library and room access card. Pick it up from your college reception on Arrivals Weekend.

Part-time students receive their Uni card in the post and HYMS students receive their card from their department.

Unload your things

Usually, Second and Third Year Contacts (STYCs) are on hand to help you into campus accommodation. We'll help you as much as we can while adhering to government regulations in place on the day. STYCs are available during Welcome Week to show you around and help you with any problems. They will give you the best tips and tricks for making the most out of your time at York.

If you're living on campus, complete and submit the room inventory and report any problems.

We also have advice if you are moving in to private-sector accommodation, including what happens to your deposit.

Get online on campus

If you're living on campus, there will be instructions on how to get online in your study bedroom. If you have any problems, see IT information for new users. IT services run helpdesk sessions to help you sort things out.
