Find out all you need to know to get to campus and what you need to do once you're first here.
If you're living on campus, we will email your University email address in early September with your room details. You may need to book an arrival slot.
When you get to campus, you'll need to register your arrival, pick up your University card, and get connected.

Pick up your keys
If you’re in University accommodation, remember to bring a copy of your offer letter, student finance information and some form of photo identification – for example, passport, driving licence card or national identity card.

Unload your things
Second and Third Year Contacts (STYCs) are on hand to help you into campus accommodation. They are available during Welcome Week to show you around and help you with any problems, giving you tips for making the most out of your time at York.
You may be asked to unload your vehicle and then move it into a separate parking area.
If you're living on campus, complete and submit the room inventory and report any problems.

Arriving out of hours
Staff are available:
10am-4pm on Friday 12 September 2025
9am-5pm on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September 2025
If you arrive outside of these times, make your way to the Information Centre on Campus West or the Ron Cooke Hub on Campus East.
Collect your Uni Card
Your University card is your ID, printing and library card. Pick it up from a hub in your college on your college arrivals day or from the Information Centre at other times.
Part-time students receive their Uni card in the post and Hull York Medical School students receive their card from their department.

See our introduction to IT Services for information on how to get connected on campus. If you're living on campus, there will be instructions on how to get online in your study bedroom.
If you have any problems, IT services run help desk sessions in Welcome Week to help you sort things out.

Visit your college stall
Some colleges have a stall where you can buy college t-shirts and other merchandise. There’s no pressure to buy but it could help you to feel part of your college from day one.

International student?
