Free coaches are provided on certain days to collect students from Manchester Airport - you must book in advance.

There are eight different airport collection dates in September 2020 to support students travelling from abroad, including those who need to self-isolate/quarantine before the start of term due to travel restrictions and UK government guidelines.

See our coronavirus pages for more information about the University's response to the pandemic.

There is a coach service from Manchester Airport on Saturday 5, Sunday 6 and Monday 7 September 2020 for postgraduate students needing to self-isolate/quarantine.

Coaches will leave between 9.30am and 3.30pm and we will email you nearer the time with details of the pick up point. It will not be possible to wait for latecomers. You must allow at least two hours to go through immigration control and collect your luggage before reaching the coach. The coaches will take approximately two hours to reach York from Manchester.

Please note that you must be able to manage your luggage yourself, as it will not be possible for anyone else to touch your cases. You are permitted a maximum of two suitcases and one small piece of hand luggage. You will not be permitted on the coach if you exceed that limit.

Face coverings must be worn at all times in the airport, on the coach and on arrival on campus.

You must book a place in advance. On enrolling, you will be able to access University software, e:Vision, where you will find instructions for booking a place on a coach in the 'Your Support' section.

The final date for booking a place is 11.59pm on Monday 31 August 2020.

Please note that if your accommodation is off campus, you will need to get a taxi from York campus. Please tell a member of the York Welcome Team at the airport as we can book a taxi on your behalf. The cost will be about £7 and you should ensure you have sufficient GBP with you.

What to bring

You are advised not to bring more than two suitcases and one piece of hand luggage. If you have more than the suggested number of suitcases we may have to ask you to travel to York at your own expense, due to limited luggage space on the coach. See information on what to bring.

If you are unable to arrive in time, you could consider taking a flight the day before and staying in nearby hotels overnight. Alternatively, see our information about travelling to York from UK airports to arrange your own travel.
