New students and arrivals

1. Drive to the Church Lane Building car park (campus map / google maps / what3words) 
2. Collect your room access card from the Church Lane Building reception - please remember to bring photo ID with you. Due to the limited capacity of the car park, we ask that you please move on within 30 minutes of arriving.
3. After collecting your room access card and returning to your car, drive from the Church Lane car park to Lakeside Way (campus map / google maps / what3words). You will be directed to Anne Lister College to park and unload.
4. Due to space restrictions, you have 15 minutes to unload your vehicle. The driver must remain with your vehicle at all times and we'll have people to help you unload.
5. Once you have unloaded, the driver will need to move your vehicle to our long-stay car park at Grimston Bar Park and Ride (google maps / what3words). We recommend that all drivers make a note of their student’s accommodation block and room number before leaving, in case mobile signal is poor on the day. 
6. A free shuttle bus will return you to the Campus East bus interchange (campus map / google maps / what3words), which is a five minute walk to Anne Lister. The last bus back to Grimston Bar Park and Ride is at 5.15pm.

Once you have unpacked your belongings, head over to the Anne Lister College Hub to meet college staff, collect your student ID card and explore merch and sports memberships.

We strongly encourage you to arrive on the day your tenancy contract begins. Arrivals weekend is a very busy time at the University, with lots of traffic and queues across campus. 

If you choose to arrive after this date, please be aware there will be a limited number of parking spaces available, as well as limited assistance available to help you move into your room. We therefore strongly recommend you move in on your allocated arrival date.

Blue Badge holders can use accessible parking spaces on campus and you don't need to register in advance.

Our home undergraduate key collection hub at Church Lane Building is open between 9am and 5pm, though you should aim to arrive during your pre-booked arrival slot. 

Students arriving from overseas collect their keys between 8am and 8pm from the Campus Reception at the Ron Cooke Hub. Delayed home undergraduates can also be assisted here after 5pm.

If you arrive on campus outside these hours, please make alternative arrangements until our key collection hubs reopen. In an emergency, you can contact Campus Safety on +44 (0)1904 32 4444.

Check campus outlet opening times to see whether they will be open when you plan to arrive. Note that our campus catering outlets only take card or contactless payments.

If you are moving into catered accommodation, please be aware your meals will only be available on weekdays during the semester, starting Monday 21 September 2026.
