Recruitment and onboarding

Recruitment and onboarding are crucial manager skills as they ensure the University attracts and integrates talented individuals who align with our mission and values.

Effective recruitment and a structured onboarding process significantly impact new hires' productivity, engagement and long-term retention, thereby strengthening our workforce and building the culture that we want to be part of.

Just one thing

To chair a recruitment panel you must complete the full recruitment and selection programme (login required). You can access this self-led learning at any time via the LMS and complete it in bite-sized chunks. It takes approximately four hours to complete.

To be a member of a recruitment panel you must complete the sections of the recruitment and selection programme (login required) covering equality and diversity and unconscious bias. You can access them at any time via the LMS. While it is not mandatory, all panel members are encouraged to complete the full programme.

From Sunday 1 March 2026 the University became a Disability Confident employer. Anyone involved in recruitment and selection (including recruitment panel members) should make themselves familiar with the Disability Confident overview, and the Disability Confident guidance for recruiting managers and panel members.
