The moment I received my offer from York, I finally felt as if I could breathe again. It made me feel that, despite the barriers that my background placed in front of me, I belonged. It validated the ethos I’d had from the very beginning: never let where you come from hold you back in achieving your dreams.

Moving in is a surreal experience. It's the start of a new stage in your life. I think moving into York is also really easy, with 2nd- and 3rd-Year students to help through Freshers’ Week – supporting you, making sure you don’t get lost, helping you make friends and attend events. It really makes you feel welcome.
