Changes for continuing students

Welcome back to York! It’s been a busy summer here on campus, so we’ve rounded up a quick start of some key changes you’ll need to be aware of for the new academic year.

New student mailroom for Campus West

From Monday 14 September, Campus West students will need to collect their parcels from the new Student Mailroom next to Dalham Farm on Campus West, instead of the Information Centre. Find out more information about the change and what it’ll mean for you.

Campus East students can continue to use the Piazza Mailroom.

Campus access: wear your student card

We’re investing in a number of improvements to campus safety, including general access to campus buildings. As a result, from Monday 21 September, you will need to wear your student Unicard around campus. If you need one, grab a lanyard from Campus Receptions at the Information Centre and Ron Cooke Hub.

New First Bus timetables for 2026/27

From Sunday 13 September onwards, University bus services move to regular semester timetables. Routes for selected morning U1 and U2 services will be slightly amended to provide better links between the York Railway Station and campus, and new fares have been set out by First Bus. Campus refurbishments

University Library

Works to improve the entranceway to the University Library continue, with full renovation expected to be completed by the end of October. In the meantime, students can continue to enter the Library via the alternative entrance in the Fairhurst Building, and enjoy the updated study spaces that have been renovated so far.

Biology Cookies café

Work began in June to transform the Department of Biology's catering by relocating Cookies Café to the K Block atrium. The new cafe is expected to open by mid-September - keep an eye out for more!
