Regular bus timetables are back
News
Posted on Thursday 10 September 2026
From Sunday 13 September 2026, all University bus services operated by First York will return to their regular semester timetable.
The following University bus services will return to a regular semester timetable from Sunday 13 September:
- U1, U2, U3, U4 and UN1
These services stop at Campus East and Campus West and some travel into the city centre or the York Designer Outlet. They are also part of our freezone, where you can travel for free within the campus zone when you tap on and tap off the bus.
Learn more about the campus freezone and download our university bus route map.
Remember to plan your journey by checking the timetable before you travel, and download the First Bus App to track your bus in real time.
What's changing
- Selected early morning journeys on the U1 and U2 will start from York Railway Station instead of Merchantgate. Check the U1 and U2 timetables for more information.
- Some ticket prices have increased. For example, a single trip has increased by 10 pence, from £1.50 (September 2025) to £1.60 (September 2026). A pack of ten single trips has increased from £14 (September 2025) to £15 (September 2026).
- For further information on all ticket types, see the ‘Choose tickets’ drop-downs on First York’s Student bus travel in York web page.
