Final year undergraduates: Give your feedback

Posted on 2 February 2025

The National Student Survey (NSS) is your opportunity to give fair and honest feedback on your experience at the University of York.

It’s time to tell us what you think we do well and any areas where you think we can do better. The NSS opens to all final year undergraduates on Monday 3 February 2025.

We use the NSS results to understand what we’re getting right and to highlight areas for further improvements so that students following in your footsteps can benefit from your feedback. We especially encourage you to use the free text comments in the survey - these are read by senior staff such as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Teaching, Learning and Students as well as staff across the whole University responsible for delivering your student experience.

In response to previous feedback from the NSS:

  • Our assessment and feedback project is implementing a more consistent approach to assessment and feedback across the institution, developing inclusive approaches and student-facing resources.
  • Our personal supervision project has created a new toolkit for staff to enhance personal supervision practice at York.
  • Our engagement and communication 'toolkit' is improving our approaches to engagement and communication with students around assessment and feedback, learning opportunities and student voice.

Get involved

The NSS 2025 runs from Monday 3 February until Wednesday 30 April 2025. It is run by Ipsos who will contact you with a unique ID and a link to the survey - it takes around 10 minutes to complete. Ipsos send an initial email and reminder emails until you complete the survey or opt out.

Please take the time to give your feedback; it really does make a difference.

Sexual Misconduct Survey 2025

After completing the NSS, you will be given the option to complete a Sexual Misconduct Survey. Ipsos are conducting this research on behalf of the Office for Students (OfS) to find out more about student experiences of sexual harassment and misconduct. This survey is entirely optional and students that opt in will be directed to the range of support and guidance available to them, from both within the University and external organisations.

For more information, see the OfS Student guide to harassment and sexual misconduct.
