The National Third Sector Awards honour those who give back to the community outside of the public sector of government and the private sector of business.

Roses 2017 built on the annual tradition of sporting rivalry between York and Lancaster universities to form a truly spectacular event. YUSU not only partnered with the Lancaster Students' Union, but with the York and Lancashire branches of Mind to form 'by far the biggest platform to engage students, the local community and raise awareness of the positive link between sport and mental health.'

As well as raising awareness and engagement with sporting activity, Roses 2017 raised over £3,500 for Mind, smashing their goal of £2,500. This nomination marks a huge achievement for YUSU and everyone involved.

An award-winning students' union

The National Third Sector Award nomination comes hot on the heels of three other award wins for YUSU.

Roses won 'Event of the Year' at the British Universities and Colleges Sport Yorkshire awards. YUSU campus bars achieved a 'Best Bar None' award for sector best practice and quality service. And finally, YUSU has also cleaned up for sustainability and achieved the 'very good' status for Green Impact, which is one step of the very top award.

Congratulations to YUSU for the wonderful work they do to make student life so fantastic.
