Accommodation guarantee 2026/27

This page sets out our 2026/27 accommodation guarantee, explaining who is eligible for a guaranteed offer of University-owned and managed on-campus accommodation, or approved off-campus accommodation, along with key deadlines and conditions.

Undergraduates

Our undergraduate accommodation guarantee deadline has now passed (5pm BST, 31 July). Full-time undergraduate students who applied by this deadline and meet the full eligibility criteria are guaranteed an offer of accommodation.

If you’re a full-time undergraduate student and still require accommodation, you can still apply. Applications made after the guarantee deadline are not guaranteed an offer of accommodation, but we’ll do our best to help you find a room before your studies begin, subject to availability.

Please note, the accommodation application system will be unavailable from 4pm on 6 August while we process student enrolments. The system will reopen at 8am on 13 August.

Undergraduate accommodation guarantee 2026/27

You were guaranteed an offer of University-owned and managed on-campus accommodation, or approved off-campus accommodation in a single-occupancy room, if you meet the following conditions:

  • You chose York as a UCAS firm or insurance choice or held an unconditional firm offer (UF) of study.
  • You are a new full-time, first-year undergraduate student (UK or International), and applied for a single room for the full academic year.
  • You applied for accommodation by 5pm BST, 31 July 2026.
  • Your course offer becomes unconditional by 13 August 2026 (A-level results day).

Undergraduate Clearing students

You're guaranteed an offer of University-owned and managed on-campus accommodation, or approved off-campus accommodation in a single-occupancy room, if you apply for accommodation and hold a Clearing offer for the full 2026/27 academic year and meet all of the following criteria:

  • You're a new first-year undergraduate (UK or International) offered a place at York through Clearing.
  • You have referred yourself to York via your UCAS Hub and completed your application record, including all relevant qualifications, by the deadline set by your academic department or by 5pm BST, Thursday 20 August 2026, whichever is earlier.
  • You hold an Unconditional offer (UF) and submit your accommodation application by 12 noon on Monday 24 August 2026.

Our Clearing accommodation

Later applicants

If you are unable to apply by these dates, you can still submit your application but you are not guaranteed an offer of accommodation. While accommodation cannot be guaranteed, we'll do our best to assist you in securing a place before your studies begin. 

Postgraduates

Our postgraduate accommodation guarantee deadline has now passed (5pm BST, 31 July). Full-time postgraduate students who applied by this deadline and meet the full eligibility criteria are guaranteed an offer of accommodation.

If you’re a full-time postgraduate student and still require accommodation, you can still apply. Applications made after the guarantee deadline are not guaranteed an offer of accommodation, but we’ll do our best to help you find a room before your studies begin, subject to availability.

Postgraduate accommodation guarantee 2026/27

You were guaranteed an offer of University-owned and managed on-campus accommodation, or approved off-campus accommodation in a single-occupancy room, if you met the following conditions:

  • You are a new full-time, postgraduate student (UK or International), and applied for a single room for the full academic year.
  • You accepted your York offer and applied for accommodation by 5pm BST, 31 July 2026.
  • You have an unconditional offer by 5pm BST, 7 August 2026.

Undergraduate Visiting students

You’re guaranteed an offer of University-owned and managed on-campus accommodation, in a single-occupancy room, if you meet the following conditions:

  • Accept an unconditional offer to study at York for:

    - Semester 1 (September 2026) by 5pm BST, 30 June 2026, or

    - Semester 2 (February 2027) by 5pm, 30 November 2026.
