What Is Strategic Thinking and How Do I Get Started?
Event details
Strategic thinking and planning is a highly valuable skill set which can be deployed in both academic and non-academic workplaces. It empowers you to set future goals and proactively work towards them.
As a result, it's helpful in career planning, research project planning, collaboration, creating strategy documentation, and responding to change.
It also enables you to look at the big picture and ask questions about the future direction of yourself, your team or research group, your research field or even the entire Higher Education industry.
In this session, we’ll look at how developing objectives, values, and vision play a role in helping you think strategically about research, work, or your own career. We’ll talk about the wider concepts of strategic thinking and the importance of factoring in uncertainty and change to create a robust framework/plan for the future.
Session objectives:
- Understand more about strategic planning
- Be able to articulate the difference between vision, values, and objectives
