Event details

Communicating your research to different audiences is undoubtedly an important skill for researchers to have. But it may feel daunting to know what level to pitch your work at, how to connect with audiences, and ultimately how to write copy for different audiences and situations.

This session will give a brief overview of how you should approach communicating your research to different audiences, thinking about tailoring the language, tone and terminology you can use, as well as making that all important connection with your intended audience. We will then discuss using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to write different kinds of summaries of your research, and the pros and cons of doing so. There will also be a demonstration of writing prompts for Gemini AI to generate content.

Learning objectives

  • Consider how to vary the language, tone and terminology based on your intended audience.
  • Learn how to use AI to draft copy that you can use to communicate your research.
  • Understand the pros and cons of using AI to generate research communications.
