About the software

Crystallography without the pain: Featuring an easy drag-and-drop workflow, our software maximizes your productivity and empowers you to explore the crystalline world. 

  • Build, display and manipulate all kinds of crystal and molecular structures.
  • Design new materials and relax their structures.
  • Animate structural behaviour; generate video for teaching or presentations.
  • 3D Print models; create rotatable 3D models for iPhone, iPad.
  • Simulate diffraction properties for powders and single crystals.

CrystalMaker is installed on Department of Chemistry classroom PCs and is available for all other University and personally-owned staff and student PCs - please see the Obtaining the software tab.

Obtaining the software

Classrooms

CrystalMaker is installed on Department of Chemistry classroom PCs.

It appears under Start > CrystalMaker.

Managed office PCs

To install CrystalMaker on office PCs in the Department of Chemistry, follow these steps:

  1. From the Start Menu, search for and open Software Center
  2. Locate the software under the Available Software tab
  3. Click on the Install button in the lower right

Unmanaged PCs and home use

All staff and students are able to install CrystalMaker on unmanaged University-owned PCs and personally-owned devices. 

Installation files:

When the zip file has downloaded, right click on it and select Extract All and then Extract. Then run each of the setup files to install the components on your device.

When launched, CrystalMaker will ask for a licence code; the codes can be obtained from our licence codes page.
