Professor John McDermid appointed to the Health and Safety Executive board as a non-executive director

The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions has confirmed the appointment of Professor John McDermid as a non-executive director on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Board.

The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, the Rt Hon Amber Rudd MP, has confirmed the appointment of Professor John McDermid as a non-executive director on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Board. Professor McDermid will take up post on 1 October 2019.

Professor McDermid said: “I’m delighted to be able to join the other highly experienced members of the HSE Board to support the HSE’s work to keep us all safe in the workplace. Recent, rapid developments in technology mean that the workplace is changing every day. I look forward to bringing my expertise and experience in assuring the safety of complex systems and software to the Board.”

The Chair of HSE, Martin Temple, said: “I’m delighted to welcome this new strength and experience to the Board”.
