The annual Practical Project is run at the beginning of each academic year. It involves all new first year students along with other undergraduates and visiting students, and is essentially a large-scale music theatre production involving an intensive five-week rehearsal period, culminating in several public performances in the University's Concert Series.
The Practical Project is led by a different member of staff each year and often reflects their own research interests. Over recent years it has varied from a traditionally-staged baroque cantata one year, to a newly-devised music theatre piece the next, with a laptop orchestra thrown in for good measure!
